Paper Chromatography Kit
Chromatography is the oldest documented technique to separate chemical substances. In this activity, students will perform paper chromatography on three indidividual dyes and a mixture of dyes to determine if all three dyes are in the mixture.
Materials for 15 groups: Chromatography dye set with 0.5mL each of Crystal Violet, Safranin O, Toluidine Blue and a chromatography mixture; 30mL 95% Ethanol UN1170 (5); chromatography sheets (15); and capillary tubes (4)
