The ExtremeX Monocular Compound Microscope is the perfect microscope for secondary schools, colleges and university teaching level learning. Easy to use and robust to stand up to years of teaching.Â
The microscopes come with a rechargeable battery, allowing them to be used both while plugged in and wirelessly. This feature is especially useful in classrooms without power supplies, as it eliminates the risk of damage from cords and enables students to handle the equipment freely. The flexible power options ensure durability and enhance the learning experience.Â
What procedures should be followed to correctly adjust the stage and focus knobs?
Question by: Anonymous on Dec 22, 2025, 5:58 p.m.
Adjusting Focusing Tension
The tension adjustment on the Microscope ExtremeX controls the resistance of the focus knobs, making them easier or harder to turn. This is essential if the microscope stage is slowly drifting down on its own (requiring increased tension) or if the focus knobs are too stiff (requiring decreased tension).
To Increase The Tension (if the stage is falling):
1. Locate the small hole or indentations on the focusing shaft, often between the focusing holder and the knob itself, or on the outside of the focusing knob.
2. Insert the pin of the supplied hook wrench into this groove or hole.
3. Hold the focusing knob on the opposite side of the microscope so it cannot move.
4. Rotate the hook wrench clockwise (or push the inserted tool/pin away from you) to increase the tension.
The hook wrench is supplied with each ExtremeX microscope in the foam box cavities.
