Urinalysis Kit, Simulated

Urinalysis, an enduring medical diagnostic test, remains one of the most frequently conducted tests. In this activity, students will utilize simulated urine to avoid the discomfort of using real samples while still conducting authentic tests. They will analyze the simulated urine for pH, color, clarity, and test for the presence or absence of proteins, glucose, and calcium. The students will then examine the samples under a microscope to identify the possible presence of crystals. Each kit contains materials for 15 student groups, along with Teacher's Manual and Student Study Guide copymasters. Additional items required, but not included, are a hot water bath, glass test tubes, and compound microscopes (4X/10X/40X).
