Lampreys belong to the family Petromyzonidae. They live in coastal and fresh waters and are found in temperate regions around the world. They are easily recognized by its unique jawless mouth, which features a ring of teeth and a funnel-like shape mouth for suction. Its body is supported by a cartilage skeleton, and they breathe through a series of seven pairs of small gill openings located behind its mouth and eyes. The average length is about 18″ – 20″ in size.
